1. About the Hotel Association of Canada
The Hotel Association of Canada is the voice and vision of the Canadian Lodging Industry. Headquartered in Ottawa, the Hotel Association of Canada (HAC) advocate on behalf of Canadian hoteliers to build a favourable business climate and influence policies for the industry’s success. They offer cost-effective, innovative marketing programs, and celebrate excellence through an annual conference. HAC data and statistics keep the industry informed on the industry trends.
Members are an important part of the HAC network; a network over 7,000 strong encompassing hotel companies, individual hotels, resorts, provincial and international lodging associations, industry suppliers, educators and now hotel students.
2. Student Membership
As a student member of HAC, you area a part of this 7,000 strong network of industry executives and invited to attend HAC conferences and events, where you can meet these potential employers face‐to‐face. You will also have access to the latest hospitality news, information, and educational resources, so that you can stay on top of the trends and best practices of the industry and set yourself apart from the competition when graduation day finally arrives.
3. Student Member Benefits
On becoming a student member of the Hotel Association of Canada, the membership benefits include:
i.Subscription to the quarterly RooMers magazine, providing insight and information on the Hotel Industry in Canada including a calendar of industry events and to receive the regular email blasts and newsletters from HAC, designed to keep members informed of policy issues and current issues in the industry.
ii.Access to current and archived statistical information and industry reports including the HVS Canadian Lodging Outlook, Statistics Canada Cross Border, and PKF Trends National Market. Members can receive weekly, monthly and yearly data on industry occupancies and room rates broken down according to city and province. Lodging Econometrics also provides members with quarterly reports on industry construction projects.
iii.Significantly discounted rates to attend the national HAC Annual Conference*. This annual event is an excellent opportunity for student members to further their understanding of the opportunities and constraints facing the industry, and potentially meet future employers.
iv.Access to the HAC Hotel Database, a complete listing of HAC corporate members and their Canadian lodging properties (via the faculty advisor). This allows student chapters, where formed, the opportunity to connect with local and regional corporate members in terms of their engagement with and potential mentorship of local HAC student chapters.
